Foodnet Meals on Wheels is hiring a Cook (Prep Cook)! Are you looking for a job that makes a difference in your community? Do you believe that food is love? Join the energetic Foodnet Meals on Wheels Kitchen Operations Team to prepare daily meals for local seniors.

Basics:

  • Part time, non-exempt, 25 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 1:30pm. This is a weekdays-only position, no weekend or evening shifts. $18.45 per hour.

What you will do:

  • Be a part of Foodnet’s Food Service Operations Team to prepare food as part of Foodnet’s Senior Nutrition Program.

What you will need:

  • A desire to ensure the food security of older people living in Tompkins County.

  • The ability to function effectively in the role. A high school diploma/equivalent is preferred.

  • Reliable transportation and valid current NYS driver’s license required. Three years of a good safety record is preferred.

  • A sense of humor, fun-loving spirit, and the desire to see good in others.

  • Experience working with older adults, individuals living with disabilities, and diverse populations is welcome.

  • The ability to work a full shift with the ability to stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time in a positive fast-paced kitchen. Experience in food services and production is a plus.

  • Ability to follow oral and written directions and standard recipes with restaurant or foodservice production preferred.

  • A current ServeSafe Certification or ability to obtain in early service.

  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. finger/hand dexterity to operate kitchen machinery, knives, etc., possess hearing, visual, and sensory abilities to observe and detect emergency situations; also, to distinguish product, taste texture, temperature and presentation and preparation.

Administrative Assistant - Per Diem

Looking for a flexible job that makes an impact on the community? We are the only agency in Tompkins County serving older adults through home delivered meals, nutrition services and friendly safety checks every day! Are you an organized, detail-oriented, and community-minded professional who cares about the health of our senior neighbors? Join the team dedicated to the health of our most vulnerable neighbors.

Basics:

  • Part time, non-exempt, one or two weekdays per week between 7:00 am and 1:30 pm and providing relief coverage as needed. 5 hours per day, no weekends or evenings. $18.45 per hour.

As the successful Administrative Assistant, you will:

  • Serve as a key member of the Foodnet Administration team at the Triphammer Road location working per diem for vacation coverage. Shifts will vary but will be within Monday through Friday between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm.  This is a per diem, non-exempt position without weekend or evening shifts.

  • Greet and direct clients and visitors via email, phone and in person and respond to inquiries about the organization and programs. 

  • Track and record meal and participation counts in specialized databases and generate reports.

  • Print and distribute daily route sheets, monthly menus and other client communications, coordinate printer/copier maintenance and maintain related supplies and orders.

  • Lead and coordinate technical and/or confidential communication to both internal and external stakeholders, as needed.

  •  Provide basic admin support to the Executive Director and other staff.

  • Assist with preparation of billing to providers, clients and follow approved cash handling procedures and accurately submit claims for reimbursements.

  • Coordinate monthly staff meetings and ensure regular communication with Foodnet staff.

  • Work with a fun, energetic group of individuals who are committed to assisting our senior neighbors live independently.

To be a successful Administrative Assistant, you need:

  • Skills or background related or a high school graduate equivalent. A college degree in a human service-related subject is welcome.

  • More than two years of experience in a fast-paced human services administrative office, experience working with older adults, individuals with chronic illness or individuals living with physical, cognitive, intellectual, mental or developmental challenges is a plus.

  •  A valid NYS driver’s license with clean driving and safety record.

  • A good sense of humor and ability to see good in others.

  • An interest in social services, food security and senior health and making our community a better place.

  • A collaborative and flexible work style and a willingness to communicate effectively as a part of a multifaceted and fun team.

  • Food service experience is not required but is also welcome.
