(1) Outreach Driver

Foodnet Meals on Wheels is hiring! Are you recently retired or looking for a job that makes a difference in your community? Consider joining the Foodnet Meals on Wheels team as part-time outreach driver (28 hours per week)!

What you will do:

· Deliver fresh meals to client homes following an assigned route.

· Provide brief friendly visit and general safety check to meal recipients.

· Maintain food safety during transport and delivery

· Load and unload delivery vehicles, and clean meal delivery containers

· Maintain vehicle fuel, proper air pressure in tires, and cleanliness

· Coordinate with the fun kitchen team and other drivers to pack meals for delivery.

What you will need:

· Must have a NYS driver’s license for at least 3 years with a good safety record

· High school graduate or equivalent.

· A collaborative and flexible work style.

· Good sense of humor and a desire to see good in others.

· Food services experience is a plus.

· Experience working with older adults, individuals living with disabilities, and diverse populations is welcome.

We offer the Tompkins County living wage pay rates for our positions (starting at $15.72 per hour). Benefits for this position include a generous amount of personnel and vacation days per calendar year and access to an Employee Assistance Program.

(1) Part-time Cook

25 hrs/wk (M-F 8:30 am to 1:00 pm)

Foodnet seeks a part-time Cook to work 25 hours per week (M-F 8:30 am to 1:00 pm) to join an energetic kitchen staff to prepare, cook and package daily meals for our clients, according to recipe and production requirements. These meals ensure that our clients have the hot nutritious meals they need every day.

What You Will Do:

Stage and prepare food according to recipe guidelines and daily/ weekly work schedules for delivery routes.

Clean and sanitize work areas, refrigerators, all equipment.

Check and record temperatures of refrigerators and freezers.

Assist with regular kitchen equipment upkeep and maintenance 

Participate in monthly staff meetings, and in-service training sessions.

Observe “clean glove” health rules to help prevent food-borne illness to our senior clients.

What You Will Need:

Current ServeSafe Certification or ability to obtain in early service.

A professional appearance and manner, good character and ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen as part of a dynamic team. 

A positive, honest, and energetic work ethic and dedication to the health of older adults.

The ability to work a full shift with the ability to stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time.

Reliable transportation to and from work. 

Ability to follow oral and written directions and standard recipes with restaurant or foodservice production preferred. 

The ability to remain calm under pressure and demonstrate focus on goals.

A sense of humor and a fun-loving spirit

Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. as needed with finger/hand dexterity to operate kitchen machinery, knives, etc., possess hearing, visual, and sensory abilities to observe and detect emergency situations; also, to distinguish product, taste texture, temperature and presentation and preparation.

Ability to withstand changes in temperature, occasional smoke, steam and heat and work in a confined area.
