Foodnet Hires Director of Development & Community Relations

11/9/21 – Foodnet welcomes Sheila Ossit, Director of Development and Community Relations

In this new role, Sheila will lead strategies for private funding, donor engagement, community partnerships and overall awareness of Foodnet Meals on Wheels and its programs and services.

Prior to this role, Sheila was the Operations and Community Engagement Officer for the School of Music at Ithaca College where she provided oversight for operations and events, engaged with community partners, alumni, and donors, and provided direct support to the Dean. Before starting at IC, Sheila was the Executive Director for the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra for nearly 13 years. She was devoted to the success of the organization, and played lead roles in fundraising and development, expanding the reach and quality of the orchestra, facilitating educational outreach, and cultivating community relationships. Under her leadership, the Family Concert Library Series and the CCO’s Youth Orchestra were created.

Sheila and her husband, Kevin, live in Cortland. They have three grown kids and two dogs. Sheila enjoys gardening, cooking, wine tasting, and hosting large gatherings for friends and slightly enormous extended family. In the past, several of her family members have relied on the amazing and necessary services provided by Meals on Wheels and she is excited to dive in and do such meaningful work for Foodnet.
